SILVER SPOON

Hi Guys,

Has anyone caught the Black Panther bug yet? I heard some folks have gone to see the movie like 4 times or more. I'm thinking is the movie that good and head out with the rest of the crew to see it. I finally got to watch it and at certain points, I heard myself screaming at the movie theater. Is the movie that great? My answer - go see for yourself and you can be a judge of that. Anyway, I think this was the second movie I've seen within a year after Hidden Figures where many of us clapped at the end of the movie.

Yikes, I digressed a little :-)

After I saw the trailer of the movie - Silver Spoon, I began a frantic search for it online. Know why?
Wole Ojo! Wole Ojo! Wole Ojo!
Okay, so y'all caught the Adesua Etomi bug last year. The first time I saw her act was in 2014 in a movie titled Brave. She acted alongside Wole Ojo.
I was actually secretly rooting for a Wole Ojo/Adesua Etomi kinda union. Everytime I saw sugar boy drop sweet comments on Adesua's post from time to time on Instagram, I smiled inwardly.
Just imagine my shock when Banky W announced that he and Adesua were an item!! Talk about a 2017 shock!!!
Okay, so back to our movie review. Silver Spoon stars Wole Ojo,Sophie Alakija (New actress, breath of fresh air), Yvonne Jegede Fawole, Ayo Adesanya, Enyinna Nwigwe (Seriously crushing on him at the moment).
Can I deviate for a moment? Lol.

I have been thinking for a long time, "Doesn't Irokotv have any strong competitors"? Ibakatv has tried to compete with Iroko and I actually subscribed. Alas!! My $7 a month always went into the drain. These guys post like 3 movies in a month. After sticking with them for a while, I canceled my subscription.

Then I stumbled on Congatv and to my amazement, Silver Spoon trailer was up on their website and listed as showing soon. Just imagine my excitement after all my frantic search online for the movie.

Before you judge me,  I don't consider myself outgoing at all and this winter season isn't helping me. I have been in hibernation mode... Hope I make a little sense.

Okay, so back to my review.....

Silver Spoon is the story of a spoiled but bright, hard working and serious minded girl of 24 years, Ella Henshaw who is set to take over her family business. Segun, played by Wole Ojo is a job seeker. He finally gets a job after months or even years of joblessness in Ella's company. On his first day, he flirts shamelessly with her completely oblivious of the fact that she was his boss. I had a good laugh when he finally realized that he had been treading on dangerous territory all along

I'm rating this movie 3.5 out of 5. I had a lot of expectations about it. The actors were great but the story was just okay. It was predictable, howbeit sweet. If you are looking for a sweet romantic movie that is predictable, this is it.

A little Update From Me

Hello there!! Happy New Year!!!  I say Happy New Year because I've been away from this blog for so long. :-(  I can't get past the fact that it was the new year just a few months ago. I remember going to church for the crossover service into the new year. It was my first in-person crossover service in 7 years. If you don't know what a crossover service is, ask any Nigerian. :-) 2023 was a few hours away, and my mind ran over the events in 2022. I thought about my wins, like moving to a new state, settling in, getting a job promotion, etc. I thought about how I got sick and felt like life was leaving me to being well again. People went forward to share their testimonies, and I felt I was supposed to be out there proclaiming God's goodness to me. "I'm sorry, Lord," I muttered. "Thank you for everything." A few hours later, everyone said "Happy New Year" with glee and excitement. "2023... Please be good to me." I th...

BIBI - CHAPTER 17

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange was happening to you Several months later….. **** Pere removed his glasses and rubbed his aching eyes. He thought about Nneoma. It had been months since he had seen her. He had reached out to her and tried to see her, but she had refused to pick up his calls. Eventually, she blocked his number, and he saw red. He had had enough. Today, he decided to go to her office to see her. A thousand thoughts crossed his mind. What if she wasn’t at the office? What if she had traveled? “Kade, I’ll see you tomorrow.” He said to their office assistant and headed out. “I’m here to see Ms. Nneoma Odili.” He said to the receptionist. “Is she expecting you?” “No.” He replied curtly. “What is your name?” The lady asked. “Pere is my name.” He answered. “She’s not at her desk.” The receptionist said to him after calling Nneoma's secretary. “Wow! But do you know if she’s in the office today?” ...

BIBI - CHAPTER 16

I t was a rainy Monday morning, and Lara was frustrated by all the traffic. That was one thing she missed about London. Fast and reliable transportation that got you where you were going without hassles. She was cranky by the time she arrived at the office that morning. It didn’t also help that she didn’t have a good night’s sleep. She placed her bag under her desk and sighed. Kofo, her admin assistant, walked up to her. “Good morning, madam. Your first meeting with the people from Duchess Group is in forty minutes.” Lara squinted and then nodded. She hadn’t yet turned on her computer. “Thanks, Kofo. Yes, I know.” “Can I get you anything?” “Yes, please. My regular morning fix.” Lara smiled. “Okay, I’ll be right back,” Kofo replied. She liked her new assistant a lot. In the short time since she had known her, Kofo had proven to be reliable. She honestly didn’t know what she would do without her these days. After getting her morning fix, a cup of coffee, and egg sandwic...
